Rescue Me ~ nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah

Don't ask me why or how, but we have a new addition to the family this week. Dunno for how long, but he's adorable, and I'm sure that somewhere he has a family that misses him. He's vanilla cream and looks like somebody rolled him gently in cinnamon.
**************
He likes sneaking Cheese Puffs, playing ball, taking long walks, and verbalizing his thoughts. His fur is soft and fly-away as cotton, and we call him Harley. The other two rescue dogs are not happy with this new arrangement, so I'm not sure how long this will last. We've advertised to find his original owner(s), but we haven't heard anything yet.
**************
Oh, and he's a Husky.
**************
Writing has been constant but never enough this past week. Fall weather makes for frisky animals that like walks amongst the leaves. New mouths to feed, laundry to do and dishes to wash (since everyone has been sick and the kids are behind on household crap) has kept me busy, but I'm enjoying myself.
**************
Have a good week, everyone.
hugs~
Sunny Lyn

He's gorgeous and Harley suits him well. I hope his previous owners come forward, but if they don't, then Harley is in a good home. LOVE those blue eyes.

Very proud of you on the writing front!

aw - thanks. He really is sweet. We keep contacting vets, and they keep saying 'never heard of him'. Now if our other two dogs just get with the program...lol.

And thanks re: the writing. You know how hard I've been working, and I know what you've been doing. We deserve the atta-girls, my friend. We have truly busted our humps this year. It'll pay off.

Did you check him for an ID Chip?

YES - have checked for the RFID, have phoned vet clinics, checked Craig's List, the big city newspaper, online news, plus scoured neighborhoods for posters of lost animals. Went to pharmacy, grocery store, all we could think of for this neighborhood for about a 3 mile radius.

*sigh* If our other dogs fall into line, we'll keep him unless someone claims him soon, but... if they aren't agreeable, we'll have to foster him to a loving family or person.

If I lived closer, I'd be at your house in a hot minute. The Husband and I are planning to get another Big Dog. Unfortunately, not until we leave this apartment and get a house.
Congrats on the writing front. You know you really CAN'T write 18 hours a day, so taking the dogs for walks is a good break to re-energize yourself.
The other dogs will probably get with the program. Whenever you have more than one dog you have a pack. They just need a little time to sort out the pecking order.
Oh, and this is exactly why I have all my animals chipped. I just wish they'd had it available when my daughter was little.
What? You think that's wrong?

cracking up - noooo, I'd be tempted to do the very same thing with my child...in fact...I've heard some people HAVE done this. no???

oh, and you are so right about the walking instead of writing - lol.

Such an unusual color for a husky, but isn't he gorgeous!
I wish I could, Lyn. Love to take him in, but it's impossible right now.
But I know you'll see that he's cared for. Luck!

On The Hook

I know Heather thought I was weird when we were walking last week around the lake. We passed this mailbox, and I snapped a shot of it on the camera phone. It wasn't necessarily because of the kitschy fish but because of something I was playing over in my mind.

Ever bitten off more than you could chew? I have. And right now I feel a tad "fish-hooked", as if someone is dragging me around by the side of my big, open mouth. They have snagged me but good, and I'm floundering like a fish on a sandbar, wondering if I'll get tossed back into the water to swim or filleted in someone's skillet as they cook me and eat me.

I did this to myself - it's nobody's fault - and it's not THAT bad of a deal. I just feel like I might have been a little too eager to prove myself on something and that I'll wind up not so tasty to the person who thinks I'm terrific right now - lol. Trust me, I want this one to eat me, to gobble me up, to praise my taste (her taste in buying me) and to fish in the weird waters of my mind again.

*sigh* One friend has told me repeatedly - "You are just afraid of success". Another FRIEND has told me point blank that she fears we'll drift apart if I swim in new waters. (She doesn't trust either me or herself, which bugs me.) Yet another has indicated that she doesn't want me to be disappointed, because I'm really not good enough. *gulp* And I'm not sure if she's being sincere or trying to spare me a heartache later or if it's one of those "you aren't allowed to do anything I can't" deals.

WTF, though, ya know? This is the business we chose, and if we're unafraid or timid or any of that crap, we won't get far. Ditto for if we listen to negative feedback that undermines our self-confidence. Love those who support you, but appreciate those whose attitudes need adjusting or those who doubt you and your abilities. That's my motto today, anyway, and so far it seems to be working, and it is keeping me busy writing and hopeful about the future.

Hugs, all...open your mouths, test the waters, swim, enjoy, and try to get hooked on the thrill of it all if nothing else. *grin*

Not good enough? No way. Hang in there and I'm thinking of you often. Hope you're feeling better. Think we're finally caving to flu in my house. My youngest is down.

And yeah, she's 18! Hard to believe isn't it?

*blinks* Not good enough? I'm censoring what I really feel. I'm all about keeping each other humble, but Jeeesus.

Hey, I'm a firm believer that there is always room for improvement. Even NY times best selling authors have changed things in thier PUBLISHED books and republished them. I look at them and think wtf? If they are still improving, how am I ever going to get into this business. Then, I get around you and the rest of us, and I'm like - I CAN DOOO IT! So - to me - it sounds like pizza and beer time to me. Call me and let's set it up. I'm in town most of the month.

But here's the thing (and please read it all before you freak!!!):

She's right - you're not good enough.

U R GREAT ENOUGH!!! U R GREAT ENOUGH TO KEEP GOING AND GREAT ENOUGH TO PRODUCE STUFF THAT MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY!!! (otherwise, why would they come back for more?)

THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!

aaw - thanks, jackie :)

wondering if I am being a whiny heifer instead of a scared one - lol. this helps.

pizza & beer sounds fabulous.

OH, and jess is off work the 24th, so I have a ride to MARA.

I'm good for any day, so whenever you're free just holler. you'll have to pick me up, of course. I'm like 6 blocks from Maloney's, if that helps. lots of pizza & beer places around here.

hugs,
me

Never Too Late For An Adventure

I gotta tell ya, getting away for the weekend is sometimes the best thing a writer can do. Friend Heather has a cabin on the lake...and I do mean practically ON the lake...right on the water's edge. Friend Gretchen has a big truck that packs everything you'd need that might not be at that cabin (and let me tell you, that cabin was stocked).

* * *

Beautiful blue lake in front while writing on the laptop (Gretchen and Heather both had extension cords - lol), chocolate chip cookies, great coffee (I gotsta get one of those Keurig machines), with things like Gretchen's famous award-winning chili for a meal or two, Heather's quiches with fruit kabobs for breakfast, and the occasional walking stick...it was all condusive to a great time with friends and keyboards.

* * *

We were so busy we forgot to drink. Had the fixins for Bloody Mary, Screwdriver, and a few others. We had the multi-cheese and fruit and cracker platter but neglected to drink much other than water and coffee. G' did have a beer or two, though, and while the ladies didn't get drunk, a walking stick looked pretty self-satisfied the next morning sitting atop one of the beer cans left on the porch.

* * *
Evidently, my time at the lake produced a lot of crap. Crit Partner said she was in a foul mood - lol - but I may have been the one to put her there, so I need to go over everything I wrote, take care of some of the repetition (which I pounce on in others' writing but sometimes fail to notice in my own), and tend to the boring tidbits that made her want to gnash her friggin' teeth.

* * *

That's okay. She was a doll for reading it, and it's my job to take care of business before it gets sent to an editor.

***

Damn it. And I so wanted this one to work. Oh, well. I'm still on a roll with the writing, so I'll just post a pic of the lake somewhere close so I can look at that water and imagine either the sun or the moon (the moon was full last weekend - talk about some dreamy nights)...and get re-energized.

***

It's really easy to get discouraged. Don't let that happen - any of you. Find your muse, stroke and stoke and savor...then jump back into the deep end of the pool and get busy.
